About this course

Ages 14-17 – “Improv for Interaction” Social Skills Group

Offered both ONLINE & IN-PERSON

– Online, Wednesdays 4:00-5:00pm PT

In-Person at The Wallis – 9390 N. Santa Monica Blvd., Beverly Hills, CA 90210

– In-Person, Tuesdays 5:00-6:00pm PT

Using improvisation, theater games and role-play, students in our “Improv for Interaction” classes practice skills needed for positive social interaction. Participants will increase their capacity to focus, take and follow direction, and ease anxiety. Among the themes this class will touch upon are:

 

  • Conversational skills;
  • Friendship making and retention;
  • Finding common interests;
  • Flexibility and spontaneity;
  • Conflict management;
  • Self regulation and comfort;
  • Being a team player;
  • Social protocols;
  • Self-advocacy;
  • Bullying;
  • Electronic communication;
  • Non-verbal communication;
  • Setting boundaries;
  • Dating.

 

This class, like all Miracle Project classes, is neurodiverse and includes neuro-typical peer role models – called “co-actors.” If interested in volunteering as a co-actor, please click here.

All participants attending The Miracle Project programming in-person are required to:

  • Sign The Miracle Project’s Parent/Participant safety agreement (provided upon registration of the class)
  • Complete COVID-19 Screening Forms before attending each in-person class.
  • Wear masks at all times when indoors (regardless of vaccination status). Masks are not required, yet strongly recommended, for all outdoor programming.
