Ages 11-14 – “Improv for Interaction” Social Skills Group

IN-PERSON, Tuesdays, 3:30-4:30pm PT in West Los Angeles

Using improvisation, theater games and role-play, students in our “Improv for Interaction” classes practice skills needed for positive social interaction. Participants will increase their capacity to focus, take and follow direction, and ease anxiety. Among the themes this class will touch upon are:

 

  • Initiating conversation and play
  • Building communication skills
  • Participating in non-preferred activities
  • Self regulation and comfort
  • Completing a task from beginning to end
  • Dealing with peer pressure and bullying
  • Leadership and taking direction from peers
  • Working together in small groups
  • Identifying emotions
  • Team building and group decision making

 

This class, like all Miracle Project classes, is neurodiverse and includes neuro-typical peer role models – called “co-actors.” If interested in volunteering as a co-actor, please click here (link to volunteer page).

Important Notice Regarding In-Person Programming:

All of The Miracle Project’s IN-PERSON classes will meet IN-PERSON weekly!

All participants attending The Miracle Project programming in-person are required to:

  • Provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination OR proof of neg. COVID-19 test.
    • PCR tests must be administered within 48 hours of class time and antigen/rapid tests must be administered within 24 hours of class start time with time/date recorded on the test.
  • Wear masks at all times when indoors (regardless of vaccination status). Masks are not required, yet strongly recommended, for all outdoor programming.
  • Sign The Miracle Project’s Parent/Participant safety agreement (provided upon registration of the class)
