About This Class

I Can Do That (ICDT) is The Miracle Project’s on-camera acting program for neurodivergent, disabled, and nondisabled performers. Participants explore acting fundamentals, develop confidence, strengthen communication skills, and learn tools used in television and film.

The program is offered in separate groups so each actor can learn at the pace that fits them best.

ICDT-A: Acting Foundations for On-Camera Performance

Thursdays from 3:30 - 4:45 pm PT

ICDT-A is a welcoming acting group where participants build foundational skills for on-camera performance. Students explore acting through character work, simple scenes, beginner-friendly script work, guided improv, and introductory on-camera activities. The focus is on confidence, expression, and trying new ideas in a supportive environment.

Participants practice reading short scripts, stepping into characters, expressing emotion and intention, and building comfort with being on-camera. It is a collaborative class where each actor can grow at their own pace.

In ICDT-A, you will

  • Explore acting through character work and short scenes

  • Practice reading from scripts and acting out simple dialogue

  • Learn introductory on-camera and audition skills

  • Build comfort expressing emotion and intention

  • Play with improv and creative choices in a supportive group

  • Strengthen communication and collaboration

  • Grow as an actor with teaching artists who adapt instruction to your needs

ICDT-A is ideal for participants who enjoy creativity, want to build confidence, or are curious about acting in a warm, encouraging environment.

ICDT-B: Acting Technique for On-Camera Performance *These classes are by invitation only

Group B1: Thursdays from 4:00 - 5:15 pm PT
Group B2: Thursdays from 5:30 - 6:45 pm PT

ICDT-B is designed for actors who want a more focused and technical acting experience. Many participants have some on-camera or onstage background, and the class builds on those skills through practical audition training, stronger scene work, and deeper character exploration. The goal is to help actors feel prepared, confident, and able to navigate industry opportunities with clarity.

In ICDT-B, you will

  • Work on cold reads and scene study

  • Strengthen self-tape and on-camera technique

  • Review casting breakdowns and audition materials

  • Explore voiceover acting

  • Practice scene analysis and character development

  • Prepare headshots and resumes

  • Learn how to request accommodations on set

Why Study Acting at The Miracle Project

I Can Do That offers a uniquely supportive acting environment. Teaching artists create a space where performers of many communication styles, learning profiles, and confidence levels can grow as actors and as people. Instruction is tailored to the ensemble so that every participant experiences progress, connection, and artistic development.

TMP also occasionally receives casting calls for film, television, and voiceover roles. Participants from any ICDT group may submit to appropriate opportunities, and teaching artists are available to provide guidance based on each actor’s interests and readiness. Submissions are always optional and centered around what feels best for the participant.

If interested in this group, please complete our Performing Arts Intake, and a member of our team will contact you to schedule a free trial class.

This class, like all Miracle Project classes, is neurodiverse and includes neurotypical peer role models – called “co-actors.” If interested in volunteering as a co-actor, please complete our Volunteer Application.
